Apical will be at Broadcast Live, London, 30 Jan 2008
pical Limited, the London-based imaging technology company, announces the European launch of a new product at Broadcast Live, Earl’s Court, London, 30 Jan to 1 Feb 2008.
The LCP-100, known also as “D-Rex”, is a co-development between Apical, Storenet Corp. and Fuji Television Network Inc. It provides broadcast engineers with a new suite of advanced real-time image processing functions for HD-SDI video formats.
The system allows the operator to generate well-balanced and noise-free video from a wide range of sources, much more easily, rapidly and reliably than before.
Designed for use in outside broadcast, studio and post-production environments, the LCP-100 delivers a number of new features:
* Adaptive, pixel-by-pixel tone mapping (dynamic range control)
* Non-linear and spatially variant colour correction
* Fine detail preservation
* Motion-based and intra-frame noise reduction
Fast, intuitive controls for real-time adjustment are combined with full management of dynamic range and signal-to-noise ratio.
To achieve this, the LCP-100 employs a new generation of image processing technology, originally developed for professional cameras. The algorithms mimic the action of the human visual system and apply different processing in different regions of each frame, automatically and naturally.
Typical applications include the automatic correction of excessive shadows and highlights, improvement of colour in non-uniform lighting conditions, and noise reduction without blurring.
The LCP-100 will be demonstrated on the Apical/Storenet booth at Broadcast Live, booth D64
