Apical announces release of new Noise Reduction core

The beta version of Apical's new Noise Reduction core engine is now available.

The proprietary algorithms on which this engine is based deliver un-rivalled noise spatial noise reduction combined with fast implementation in embedded applications.

The engine combines pixel-by-pixel transformation technology with multiple scale processing. This allows strong local smoothing of areas in which noise is detected and is visible, without affecting the sharpness of image detail in regions where noise is low or invisible.

Dr Michael Tusch, CEO, comments: "This is a completely new technology for frame-based noise reduction which overcomes many of the problems which limit the use of digital noise reduction in still and video camera applications. Due to the low code footprint of the software libraries, and the low gate count and memory requirement of the hardware cores, we believe that this technology will improve the picture quality of a wide range of imaging devices."

Further information about Apical's Noise Reduction technology can be obtained from Apical.
